









Kisha September is a highly skilled dancer currently completing her PhD in Dance Studies, focusing on Choreography and Dance Education. With a diverse background in Street Dance, Contemporary Dance, and Latin Ballroom, Kisha has built a multi-faceted career as a performer and a choreographer.
She has worked with prominent dance companies and choreographers such as Identity Dance Company, Malia Johnston’sRushes, and Vivian Hosking-Aues' Dice with Vou Dance Company. Kisha has also trained with Kayla Paige in her training group Duality Dance performing in acclaimed productions like Chameleon at Q Theatre and Duality 2.0 in 2023 and 2024.
Kisha’s performance experience extends beyond New Zealand, having performed internationally in places like Australia, Germany, Austria, and Rome. In 2024, she was one of the selected dancers for Black Grace’s Company B The Next Wave.She also had the honor of performing as a Planet Operator for Coldplay's concerts in Auckland.
Additionally, Kisha is a silver medalist with Identity Dance Company’s Megacrew in 2014 and has danced with other crews such as Xcess and Alias Dance Crew under Identity Dance Company. Her work in Contemporary Dance includes secondments with Footnote Dance Company, Malia Johnston’s Movement of the Human, Carol Brown’s Singularity for the New Zealand Dance Company, as well as choreographing for Pointy Dog Dance Company and performing with The University of Auckland on their China Tour, which included stops in Beijing, Suzhou, and Shanghai.
Kisha has been recognized for her creativity and artistic contributions. She received the Curator’s Choice Award at the Short and Sweet Dance Festival in 2016 and has made significant contributions to the Tertiary Dance Space, performing in works like How We Tessellate and Four Leaps/One Point at Basement Theatre, as well as Singularity and Out of the Box at the Tempo Dance Festival. Kisha’s ability to blend her academic pursuits with her vast performance experience positions her as a dynamic figure in Contemporary dance, constantly pushing the boundaries of both Choreography and Dance Education.
